Andre Silva Set for FC Porto Return as Official Announcement Expected This Week

A Homecoming in the Making

Andre Silva is set to be officially unveiled as an FC Porto player later this week, according to Portuguese media reports. The 30-year-old striker has already completed his medical examinations and will become the second signing of the 2026-27 season for the Dragoes.

The forward returns to Portuguese football after an extensive journey across Europe that has taken him to AC Milan, Sevilla, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, and most recently Real Sociedad. Porto moved quickly to secure his signature after identifying him as a priority target for the upcoming campaign.

A Prolific Career Across Europe

Andre Silva first made a name for himself at Porto before his 38 million euro move to AC Milan in 2017. While his time in Italy did not go entirely to plan, his career flourished in Germany, where he scored 29 goals in 34 games for Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2020-21 season, finishing as the third-highest scorer in the Bundesliga behind Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland.

That remarkable campaign earned him a move to RB Leipzig, though he never quite replicated those heights in Saxony. A subsequent loan to Real Sociedad and then a permanent switch to the Basque club followed, but Silva now returns to the club where it all began.

Silva has scored 22 goals in 58 appearances for the Portuguese national team, making him one of the most experienced forwards in Selecao history. His return to Portugal at this stage of his career suggests he is seeking regular first-team football and a chance to rediscover his best form.

What Silva Brings to Porto

The striker offers a proven goalscoring pedigree, European experience, and a physical presence that Porto has sometimes lacked in recent seasons. He is comfortable playing as a lone striker or in a front two, and his movement off the ball creates space for attacking midfielders.

Porto manager will be hoping that Silva can rediscover the form that made him one of Europe most feared strikers during his Frankfurt days. A return to familiar surroundings and the Primeira Liga could provide the perfect environment for the Portuguese international to rebuild his confidence and goal output.

The transfer represents a homecoming for a player who emerged from Porto academy system. For the club, it is a statement signing that demonstrates their ambition to compete for the Primeira Liga title against the likes of Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.
