Romanian Forward on the Move Again
Denis Dragus, the 26-year-old Romanian international forward, is approaching a transfer to Konyaspor as Trabzonspor prepares to offload the player this summer. According to reports from Turkish media, the Super Lig club is ready to move on from the striker after a series of loan spells away from the club.
Dragus returned to Trabzon after spending the previous season on loan at Eyupspor and Gaziantep. Despite still having a contract with the claret and blue club until 2028, Trabzonspor has decided that the Romanian does not feature in their long-term plans. Konyaspor has emerged as the leading candidate to secure his signature.
A Turbulent Period for the Striker
Dragus career has taken several turns since his early promise in Romanian football. He moved to Standard Liege in Belgium before Trabzonspor invested in his potential in 2023. However, regular first-team football proved elusive at the Turkish club, leading to consecutive loan moves to Eyupspor and Gaziantep.
At Gaziantep, Dragus showed flashes of his quality, contributing with goals and assists in the Super Lig. His performances attracted attention from other Turkish clubs, and Konyaspor now appears ready to offer him the stability and regular minutes he has been seeking.
Romanian Talent on the Turkish Market
Dragus is one of several Romanian internationals currently playing in Turkey, a league that has become an increasingly popular destination for Eastern European talent. The Romanian national team has benefited from its players gaining experience in competitive European leagues, and a move to Konyaspor would allow Dragus to continue his development in a familiar environment.
The transfer would also serve as an opportunity for Dragus to rebuild his value. At 26, he is entering his prime years as a forward and needs consistent game time to fulfill his potential. Konyaspor, a club with ambitions in the upper half of the Super Lig table, could provide the platform he requires.
Neither club has officially confirmed the negotiations, but sources suggest the deal could be finalized in the coming days. Trabzonspor is expected to seek a moderate transfer fee for a player who still has two years remaining on his current contract.
