Real Madrid and Emirates Agree Record-Breaking Sponsorship Extension Through 2031
Real Madrid have officially extended their landmark partnership with Emirates, ensuring the world largest international airline remains the club main shirt sponsor through 2031. The renewal cements a relationship that will span nearly two decades, making it one of the longest and most lucrative sponsorships in world football.
The agreement represents a significant financial step up from the previous deal, which was already among the most valuable in the sport. According to reports, the new contract sees Real Madrid earning close to 100 million euros (approximately $108 million) per season, making the club the highest-earning team globally in terms of shirt sponsorship revenue.
A Partnership Built on Success
The partnership began in 2011, with Emirates becoming the primary shirt sponsor in 2013. With this renewal, the Fly Emirates branding becomes the longest-running jersey sponsorship in LaLiga history, a milestone the club highlighted in its official announcement.
Boutros Boutros, Emirates Airline Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand, celebrated the renewed alliance: “Emirates has a long history of supporting football, connecting with millions of people and bringing communities together through our shared passion for the sport. What we have built with Real Madrid is a brilliant example of that commitment putting fans at the centre and inspiring the next generation.”
More Than Just a Shirt Sponsor
The agreement extends well beyond the men first team. Emirates branding will continue across Real Madrid women team, the basketball division, and all youth categories, reinforcing the airline presence throughout the entire Real Madrid ecosystem. This comprehensive approach reflects the mutual ambition of both organisations to build a lasting legacy.
Club president Florentino Perez also emphasised the significance of the partnership: “This agreement reflects the very special relationship we have built over the years. We have been, and continue to be, together during one of the most successful eras in our history.”
Financial Context: Real Madrid Leads the Way
The previous agreement was worth roughly 70 to 80 million euros per season (about $75 to $86 million). The new deal, approaching the 100 million euro mark, positions Real Madrid at the very top of the shirt sponsorship market, ahead of other European giants such as Barcelona, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.
This deal comes at an opportune moment for the club, with Mourinho returning as head coach and a major squad rebuild underway. The additional revenue provides financial firepower for the transfer market while also supporting the club ongoing stadium renovation project at the Santiago Bernabeu.
For Emirates, the renewal represents a continued commitment to football sponsorship at the highest level. The airline also sponsors Arsenal, AC Milan, and the Africa Cup of Nations, but its association with Real Madrid remains one of its most visible and prestigious partnerships globally.
