A Matchday to Remember
Major League Soccer saved its best for last before the 2026 FIFA World Cup pause. Matchday 15 delivered a spectacular collection of individual performances, historic goal tallies, and dramatic comebacks that produced one of the most memorable slates of the season.
The Team of the Matchday presented by Audi features stars from across the league who etched their names into the record books on the final weekend before the World Cup break.
Suarez Shows He Still Has It
Luis Suarez rolled back the clock with a vintage hat trick as Inter Miami CF triumphed in a stunning 6-4 victory over the Philadelphia Union. The 10-goal thriller was the second-highest scoring match in MLS history, with the Uruguayan icon reminding everyone why he remains one of the most lethal finishers ever to grace the league.
Suarez selection was matched by CF Montreal Prince Owusu, who also netted a hat trick and added an assist in Montreal remarkable 4-4 comeback draw at D.C. United. Owusu became only the second player in club history to record four goal contributions in a single match, capping the comeback with the assist on the dramatic stoppage-time equalizer.
Evander Enters the History Books
FC Cincinnati playmaker Evander joined exclusive company as the ninth player in MLS history to notch five goal contributions in a single match, recording two goals and three assists in Cincinnati 6-2 demolition of Orlando City. The Brazilian magician has been the driving force behind Cincinnati push for the Supporters Shield and delivered a masterclass on Matchday 15.
Brian White of Vancouver Whitecaps FC also made history, tallying two goals and two assists in a 4-2 win at San Diego FC. White became only the third American in MLS history to score 10 or more goals in four consecutive seasons, underlining his status as one of the league most consistent marksmen.
Defensive Standouts and Rising Stars
The Team of the Matchday features a balanced selection. San Jose goalkeeper Daniel made six saves to help the Earthquakes secure their first-ever win at Providence Park, a 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers. St. Louis center back Fallou Fall scored in a 3-0 win over Austin FC, while Chicago Fire left back Andrew Gutman headed home a game-winner against Toronto FC.
Red Bull New York Mexican winger Jorge Ruvalcaba continued his scintillating form, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory at Sporting Kansas City for his fourth goal in as many games. Columbus Crew wingback Mohamed Farsi set up both goals in a 2-0 win over Atlanta United, while Timothy Tillman snapped LAFC three-match losing streak with a late winner against the Seattle Sounders.
